ATTENTION JENNY ALLEN and friends...YOUR TAXES ARE GOING UP!!!! Does that matter???

Here is a short list of all of the ways your taxes WILL ALMOST CERTAINLY BE SKYROCKETING IN THE NEAR FUTURE.

1.  The school district just announced a facilities analysis of all Little Falls district buildings and sites.  This would include everything up to a referendum, and the construction.http://mcrecord.com/2014/10/23/tsp-architects-chosen-to-analyze-lf-facilities/

SAFE SCHOOL BUILDINGS ARE NECESSARY SPENDING.

2.  Wastewater treatment MINNESOTA POLLUTION CONTROL ASSOCIATION  required upgrades.  Soon our wastewater treatment plant will likely need a major overhaul, costing MILLIONS OF DOLLARS to taxpayers.....protecting our rivers, streams and watersheds is CRITICAL.  Your city council and current mayor just authorized spending $1,500.00 of your taxpayer dollars to undermine the MPCA standards to protect the Mississippi river and Lake Pepin from ecological disaster.  City of Little Falls Council voted to authorize giving this money to a LOBBYING FIRM, to sue the MPCA.   http://www.startribune.com/local/east/277974851.html

Alderman Brian Crowder was the ONLY one to vote against giving your tax dollars to a LOBBYING FIRM UNDERMINING the protection of Minnesota watersheds.

3. If the proposed sales tax referendum for the Little Falls Recreational Complex passes, you will be paying more in local sales taxes for the next 12+ years for an 8 MILLION DOLLAR FACILITY that is a want not a NEED.

There are countless examples that could be used to illustrate how this might be the worst idea to date for one of the POOREST COUNTIES IN ALL OF MINNESOTA. This is one of the better ones.  http://www.myfoxtimestwincities.com/23089517/credit-rating-tumbles-for-vadnais-heights-after-cutting-rink

The recreational complex is being touted by the mayor,  my other opponent Councilor Greg Zylka, and others,  as a potential tourist draw and the gateway to our city.

At a time when there are still weekly local home foreclosures happening, can this city really afford another boondoggle, like the city subsidized golf course, which sole purpose is to provide cheap golf for the RICH.

4.  Your city wells are being depleted of groundwater.  The city has already paid a firm to drill for potential water out by the airport and when they get the well or wells dug, the city will have huge costs to pipe the water all the way from the airport to the water treatment facility.  Our taxes will surely rise from this....watch and see.

5. Jake Wiherski just suggested something else....will the taxes on the bills we pay for on cable, heat, electric, etc. all go up as well, if the proposed sales tax referendum for the sports complex passes?  http://mcrecord.com/2014/10/24/vote-no-on-12-percent-tax

6.  The city tax levy is based upon your home not going up in value.  If your home value goes up, you will indeed be paying more in taxes.

Why is the city banking on your home value remaining the same or going down?  Think about it.  Could they possibly be figuring the economy is not strong enough yet for home values to increase or don't they care if you and I are taxed more?

7. How much business welfare do you think you can afford Little Falls? The Economic Development Association, headed up by my opponent Councilor Greg Zylka, continues to pass out thousands upon thousands of our taxpayer funds every year to dozens of local businesses.  I do not believe in business welfare....PERIOD.

BUT ONE OF THE MOST UNFAIR things the EDA and city have done, IS failed to  INFORM EVERYONE ABOUT THESE HANDOUTS, SINCE THEY ARE GOING TO CONTINUE TO DOLE THEM OUT.

ASK YOUR mayor and my other opponent, Councilor and President of EDA Greg Zylka, WHY THEY HAVE DONE ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO INFORM EVERY HOUSEHOLD ABOUT THIS WELFARE HANDOUT.

Is anybody out there, naïve enough to believe their tax dollars aren't being used to help prop up new or existing businesses?  Why should city residents pay city revenues(taxpayer money) to finance ANY BUSINESS????  If business people can't make a go of it financially, without asking for a public hand out, they should work for somebody else who can.  Or else, tough it out on their own.  I did.

DON'T GET ME WRONG, I AM NOT AGAINST TAXATION.   I JUST OBJECT BEING TAXED FOR LUXURIES WHEN PEOPLE ARE STILL LOSING THEIR HOMES, AND are struggling with poverty (non livable) wages, or on a fixed income.
