THESE ARE JUST A FEW OF THE LETTERS SENT OUT RECENTLY

The following property owners were sent a letter of inquiry as to the signs on their property on August 4, 2014:

Our Lady of Lourdes Church
208 Broadway Ave. West   [sign for playground/ballfield at 203 Third St. NW]   and another letter in reference to the sign for recycling located at 113 Third St. NW]

Grace Covenant Church
17117 Riverwood Drive  [sign for park area]

Richard and Frances Anderson
66 Broadway Ave. East
I believe this is Whiskey River Saloon
[amount of signage exceeding that allowed]

AB Johnson Post 1112 VFW
1210 Third Ave. NE  [signs located on the property without record of permits being issued]
I have reviewed city files for your property and found the following sign permits on file.
1. The VFW sign on the east wall of the building(1990)
2. A 2'x6' unspecified sign(1990)
Your property is zoned B-3 and is allowed 3 sq. ft. of signage per front foot.  Based on the ordinances definition of "front foot", you have 241.22 ft. of road frontage(the east frontage of your lot).  That allows for a total of 723.66 sq ft of signage.  In order to assure compliance with the city's sign permitting requirements, please complete the attached sign permit application form, listing out all existing signs.  We can then review to ensure that you comply with the requirements of the City Code and ensure you have the proper permits.  (Ben Oleson)
