  1. Can you direct me to your entries that deal with the EDA loan forgiveness issue. I got this far back, but feel like I'm unaware of an easier way to find this information and/or contact you! We received an EDA loan to open a fine-dining restaurant that we managed to keep afloat for a year, after being treated horribly, we made the devastating decision to close. We voluntarily foreclosed on the restaurant building and lost our office building that we had put up for collateral, along with our entire savings....now we feel essentially out of spite, the EDA is pursuing legal action just to force us into bankruptcy. I tell you this just to give you context and an understanding as to my intentions, as it appears, just from what I have scrolled through, you are often in the line of fire. By the way, thank you for being the brave soul that will not be quieted when you see injustice. You speak for those of us who can't (long, long story...but just know how important you are and how appreciated you are).

    1. Hi Teri.....feel free to call me at 320-360-3931 between 9am and 6pm. I am going to publish the EDA loan info on Retkas insurance bldg at 217 West Broadway soon. I haven't attended all HPC meetings for a few months, as I have been busy with other issues. They meet the first Monday of the month at noon at city hall. I know they have been unfair with some who have not been liked and helped/favored those they liked. Retkas did NOT get a demolition permit to tear down a historic bldg, but were REQUIRED to do so. They had borrowed money from EDA and because of that, needed to get their consent AND a permit. I have a big folder on HPC meetings if you want to see it sometime. I am sorry you were not treated fairly. Common in this area it seems. Stinking shame. People are not aware until THEY have an issue and expect to be treated with courtesy and no less than others. I am not sure how I can help, but will certainly listen.

  2. Sorry, for the confusion, I was actually asking about the loan forgiveness for the senior center pictures you have posted and are visible when your blog first comes up (not necessarily the content of this particular EDA meeting ). Mainly looking for the reason why that loan was forgiven and steps that were taken. ..Thanks!

    1. I don't know the official procedure for loan forgiveness, but you should ask Lori Kasella, the new city administrator Joe Rademacher or HPC. Some people have gotten loans forgiven due to extreme financial difficulty(like the bottom falling out of economy and business slowing due to that, or poor health). The city gives $12,500.00 per year to support them. The former owner of the theatre had his loan reduced substantially. To search my blog...put senior center or EDA or HPC in the search button.
