What they don't tell you, is that if Barret goes belly up, taxpayers are in the hook and may never recover this $$$. These type of startups are risky. Just as the ethanol plant was that collapsed before 10 years, and then it's replacement Green Biologics(Central Mn Renewables) also did. And within the last month Dowco also folded. All of these entities received taxpayer funded corporate welfare of some type. And taxpayers are again stuck with the bill.

Today I called the LFPD to report these illegal signs(shortly after I took the pictures)....all in the road right of way.

Lenae and Dan Gilders home below. Violates the law 2 ways. Sign ordinance does not allow 3 signs on a residential property....Only 2. And the Relay for Life sign is in the public right of way.  This is the 3rd time, they have violated the sign ordinance in the last few years. They know better. They feel they are above the law. I have reported them all 3 times and LFPD had to tell them to remove any illegal ones they had up.

Officers in this town should not have to return to the same residence more than once, to get sign ordinance compliance.  Intersection of 6th St. SE and 5th Ave.SE.

 Below, Charles Kapsner home at intersection of 9th St. SE and 5th Ave.S.E. clearly in the road right of way. How can I tell? Because any lightpole, stopsign or other roadway signs HAVE to be in the public right of way. This is NOT the first offense for them either. At least once before, maybe 2 other years, they had to remove the sign back onto their own property. They KNOW better.

This sign below was just erected 7-3-19, after I reported all the others to the LFPD, the city and clarified with Mndot to see if they gave permits for ANY of these signs. They did not. 

State statute AND our sign ordinance forbid any signs ATTACHED to road signs.

 In talking with Adelle Starin this morning 7-3-19, of Babies on Broadway, she stated an Otremba from Knife River Construction, had given her permission to have these signs in the road right of way. She said business owners and Big Dig organizers were present at this meeting. Nobody is authorized to issue permits for the public road right of way, except the city or MnDot. And an actual paper permit would have been issued after filling out and paying for the permit. That's the way it works. There are laws in place to prevent this type of illegality. Our LFPD is not doing their job, if they have not removed the 3 that are attached to the stopsigns and road signs. It's their job. Adelle also stated that Dominos added their signs on their own.

Some kind of peas are growing on the 52 acre site Barret (below) is buying from the city. They use yellow peas in their petfoods. Think it's coincidental that peas are the crop here this year?

It is morally wrong to do this, regardless if it's all legal.

The wetlands below is Daggett Brook/Creek, about half mile south of Barrett Petfood plant on highway 25 north of Pierz. Any runoff or pollutants would end up in here. If you zoom in on the photo with the seagulls feeding on something, you can see there is water that is on the ground flowing into Dagget Creek.

One wonders, where does a plant this large discharge their wastewater? There are not sewer pipes in the country. Only septic systems. This looks really suspicious.

If so, get to the city council mtg on July 1, 2019 Little Falls city hall and tell them you object. Show up at 6:30pm for the work session public forum comment where everyone is allowed 3 minutes to speak.

Barrett says they don't use rendered meat by products.....ya for now.  Unless in time, they decide to change their minds and once the plant is operational, they can choose to manufacture whatever batches of petfood they want. The city would have no say in any of that. And if they ever sell out to some big petfood conglomerate, that company decides what to manufacture at this plant. Think about it Littlefallsians. Interesting they were discussing bringing fiber optic into town.  I was not able to get reception in order to broadcast Facebook Live.   It's a dead zone out there, in numerous ways. Their next meeting is July 15, 2019.  They can expect my presence.  Somebody should have been monitoring/reporting on them decades ago.  It is abundantly clear they have violated the open meeting law, more than once recently.  See the photos of the minutes from their May 13, 2019 meeting below.  Absolutely no mention of hiring the new clerk.  I was present at the April 15, 2019 meeting where Margurite Cofell turned in her resignation and it was decided to put an ad in the MC Record to hire a new clerk.  There was supposedly no meeting in between.  So how did she get hired then? and by whom?   Looks like a round robin must have taken place, or an illegal, unpublished meeting. A round robin is where council members call one another, in order to skirt the open meeting law.  It is illegal.

Mayor John Gessell, Jr. is not fit to hold public office.  Neither are any of his band of merry cohorts.  Is this the best that Flensburg can come up with? Remedial education is in order for every one of them.
